Previously, Haines worked as an Accounting Tax Service Manager.
Prior to her previous role, she was the Accounting and Tax Manager, who provided guidance, strategy, and counsel to private businesses and multi-generational companies. Her expertise helped clients throughout all phases of the business cycle, from start-up through succession planning. Laura has also played a key role in staff development and in the scheduling processes for the firm.
A Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs, her areas of technical expertise include accounting, compilations, and reviews. Haines’ focus spans across all industries and sub-specialty areas, including real estate, professional services firms, and medical practices.

She joined the firm in 2008 and as a member of the accounting and tax services group and the not-for profit tax team.
Alger earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and MBA from Kent State University. She is a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, and The Estate Planning Council of Cleveland.

Both Haines and Alger have spent their entire career at Zinner & Co. and were thrilled to be promoted.
“I’m very excited to take on additional responsibilities, learn new things and help the firm in different ways than I am used to,” Haines said. “Being promoted is a reflection of my many years of dedication to the public accounting profession and to Zinner.”
“I am very excited about this promotion,” said Alger. “Promotions always make you feel appreciated and give you reassurance that you are ready for the next step in your career.”
For Haines, the work atmosphere at Zinner & Co. is special because of the people with whom she works.
“We have great employees and great clients who make coming to work enjoyable,” she said.
Agler added that the number one quality that makes Zinner a great place to work is the company’s culture.
“I genuinely enjoy coming to work and interacting with the people who work here,” she said. “We like to have fun while remaining professional. Additionally, the Partners truly care about and support the employees, both inside and outside of the workplace, which is very much appreciated.”
In addition to the promotions, Zinner & Co. also announced the hiring of two other employees.
Jennifer E. Gerber has joined the firm as an Accounting Tax Services Supervisor.
She brings extensive knowledge from the private sector, having held positions such as accounting manager and accounting specialist.
A graduate of John B. Stetson University with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in accounting, Gerber is certified as an ISO 9001:2015 internal auditor.
Her experience working in the manufacturing sector helps her to better understand the issues faced by our clients.
Additionally, she has also worked for public accounting firms in the Canton area, where she focused on the restaurant and retail sector.
Melanie Goryance has joined the firm as the Tax Administrative Assistant and will replace Karen Covell, who is set to retire on April 15.
Goryance brings over 20 years of experience to the role, as she has worked to drive strategic decisions through effective leadership and creative problem-solving in fast-paced and deadline-driven environments.
In prior positions, she has worked with key decision-makers to provide assistance on day-to-day operational functions, while also assisting multiple departments as needed.
Zinner & Co. congratulates both Laura and DeAnna on their new roles and also welcomes Jennifer and Melanie to the team.
