Congratulations to Carol Rivchun, president of Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.), for receiving the Leadership in Nonprofit Management Award for 2011 from the Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations at Case Western Reserve University.
The Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations has been presenting this award to nonprofit leaders in Cleveland since 1995.
Previous recipients of this award include the likes of Steve Bullock (American Red Cross – Greater Cleveland Chapter), Art Falco (Playhouse Square Foundation), David Bergholz (The George Gund Foundation), Steven Minter (The Cleveland Foundation), and Stephen Hoffman (Jewish Community Federation of Cleveland). Sue Krantz & I had the honor of attending the Nonprofit Management Awards event, which was held at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens.
Carol received this award based on her record of leadership; service as a role model in the field of nonprofit management; her creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship demonstrated by her ability to successfully identify and address the core organizational issues of Y.O.U.; her leadership in fostering interaction among her staff, those that volunteer at Y.O.U., and in the community; and most importantly for her commitment to the principles and skills associated with good management.
If you’ve had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Carol as I have, it makes perfect sense that she received this award. She is a leader true and through and there is no one more suited for this award.
Congratulations as well to the Cuyahoga County Public Library for receiving the Organization Innovation Award. In 2010, the Cuyahoga County Public Library (CCPL) was rated the best library system in the nation.
The CCPL is leading the pack in the resources available, materials in circulation, customer visits, and most importantly, innovation. The CCPL was the first library in the nation to offer text message notifications, and the first to offer a free app that allows you to check out material with you PDA. They are changing the game.
Congratulation again to Carol and the Cuyahoga County Public Library on you well deserved awards!
